Through Different Eyes
This painting represents how we process emotions and perspectives differently. The two faces reflect my own experiences and what I do with the criticism I receive. The left side of the face symbolizes an openness to new ideas and a willingness to learn and grow. It shows understanding and the courage to embrace change. On the other hand, the right side of the face represents moments of disappointment—those feelings of self-doubt that come when things don’t turn out as expected.
An example of this in my life is when my mom critiques my artwork. Sometimes she points out areas where I could have done better, and while it’s easy to feel disappointed at first, I remind myself to stay open to her advice. Instead of taking it personally, I try to see ways I can improve and develop new skills.
The bright, contrasting colors and abstract shapes in this painting are meant to capture the complexity of these emotions. Through art, I express how we balance the feelings of disappointment with a drive to improve and grow. I hope this piece inspires viewers to embrace both sides of their journey—the struggles and the learning moments—as opportunities to become better versions of themselves.
